Masonic Poem: The Old Master

Dear Brethren and Guests,

If there were any set of words I could point to and remark, "THAT's Masonry!" these would be those words: The Old Master

ThinkGeek Thinks Masonic

Website back up for good now

After the machine went into thermal shutdown for the second night in a row, I decided to set up the fan/temperature monitoring software and take a look. I noticed that the temperature actually decreased when one of the rear fans was turned off. So I checked it. The fan was installed BACKWARDS. It was blowing hot air back onto the processors! So I turned it around and now everything seems to be good. Last night's cron run went off just fine. The temps were all well within the normal range (42 C - 68 C). Last time I trust a PC refurbisher to install cooling systems in rackmounts...

Website / e-mail problems

I apologize for the nighttime site downtimes and e-mail (@excelsiorlodge.org) outages recently. It's been quite warm and it seems my server hardware has become very sensitive to temperature changes. It likes to shut down in the middle of the night when things get too hot. I've taken steps to increase airflow around the server chassis and I have plans to implement a failover system in the next few weeks.

Our favorite statement by Bro. John J. Robinson

Rather than trying to find yet another way to reiterate the often-overlooked fact that Masonry is NOT a religion, I found a page at Masonicinfo.com that's an excerpt from Bro. John J. Robinson's A Pilgrim's Path from a chapter entitled, "Is Freemasonry a Religion?" It is by far the best answer we've ever heard to the most common question asked by non-Masons about the Fraternity. Here's a link to the article: Is Freemasonry a Religion?
